Guest Arrivals & departures
Thank you for reserving one of our villas or condos on the beautiful island of St. John. The following is a bit of information to make your arrival easier.
Arrival
It is very important to us that our guests have a seamless arrival. That is why we ask guests to provide us with the following information via email 4 weeks before their arrival date:
Cell phone number of the person who has rented the villa (If you are traveling with companions we recommend that you provide us with an additional phone number in case your device loses charge during your travels)
Name of airline you are flying with
Flight number
Landing time
Car rental agency you have booked with
Car rental contact number
If you are traveling with a group, please inform us on whether the group will be traveling together or arriving separately. If your travel group is planning to arrive at different times, please let us know who will be arriving first on St. John.
If any of your travel plans change, call our office at 340-776-4703 to keep us up to date!
PLEASE NOTE: If we do not have your arrival information prior to your check-in, there will be a $50.00 charge applied to your security deposit before 8pm and $75.00 from 8pm to 12 midnight. If you arrive after 8pm you may have to wait for your greeter to pick you up at the dock if you did not call prior to arriving on St. John or if you did not advise of any schedule changes or late arrival. Once you arrive on St. Thomas, collect all of your luggage and then call the phone number listed on your confirmation sheet to inform us whether you will be on the Red Hook ferry or downtown Charlotte Amalie Ferry.
Occasionally luggage fails to arrive at baggage claim. if this happens, please file a claim at the appropriate airport counter. On the claim form, please be certain to include the name of the villa you are renting, your contact info, and our St John Office number (340-776-4703). When your luggage arrives in St. Thomas, the airline staff will inform you as to which ferry your luggage will be on.
Getting a Taxi
There are a number of taxis lined up at the airport to transport you to the ferry dock.. They will load as many people and luggage as space permits. If you do not want to take a long tour through St. Thomas then we suggest that you ask for a private taxi.
The regular charge for the taxi is $18 per person and $4 per bag. Inform the driver which ferry dock you are traveling to. The taxi ride will take approximately 40-60 minutes depending on the time of day, traffic, and the number of passengers being dropped off at various locations on St. Thomas.
Taking the Ferry
The Red Hook ferry runs to St. John every hour on the hour from 7:00 AM to 12 midnight. Buy your $8.15 ticket at the ferry dock ticket booth. Please have cash or a check ready, as they do not accept credit cards. The deckhand on the ferry will carry your luggage onto the boat and they will remove all luggage after all passengers have disembarked at the Cruz Bay dock. do not attempt to take your baggage off of the boat yourself. make sure you have all of your belongings with you.
If your arrival time permits, you may choose to take the Inter Island Boat Services Ferry departing from Crown Bay Marina in Charlotte Amalie. The departure times are 10am, 1pm, and 5:30pm. The adult charge is $20.00 per person, seniors are $15.00 per person, and children are $10.00 per person. You will be charged an additional $5 per bag. If you do take this option you need to contact us, ahead of time to let us know when to expect you. And please, make sure you have all your belongings out of the taxi. It is very difficult to track any bags once items are left in a taxi from the airport.
Renting a Car
If you are renting a car on St. John, some companies meet you at the dock, while others will have you come to their office. Please let us know which company you are renting from. Sometimes we can help by transporting one person to the rental car agency while the rest of your party waits for the rental car to come back to the dock to load up.
If you are renting a car on St. Thomas, you will have to drive it to red hook to the car ferry dock and load your car onto the barge. Currently there are three barges running, so they run frequently. However, be sure to call before your trip, because changes can happen with the car barge schedules. Barges run until 7 pm from redhook to enighed pond on St. John. Again, please be sure to call and verify the schedule. love city Barge allows you to purchase tickets online. This doesn’t always guarantee a jump in the line, but you can use your credit card this way rather than cash which you will need if you are paying on the barge.
Checking into the Villa
Check in time is 3:00 pm onwards. Once on St. John, we will greet you and escort you to your villa. we are not responsible for carrying passengers’ luggage or other belongings. When renting a vehicle please remember to allow enough room for luggage. If you are not renting a jeep, you will take a taxi directly to your villa or condo and we will meet you there. At the villa, your greeter will show you around the house and answer any questions you may have about the house or about your vacation on St. John.
Departure
For departure via the St. Thomas airport, plan to take a ferry that leaves at least 3 hours before your flight time. Ferries leave from Red Hook on the hour from 7:00 am until 11:00pm. At the ferry dock there will be taxis that will take you directly to the airport. While waiting for your flight, browse the airport gift shops. You’ll be able to pick up some last minute Cruzan Rum to bring home with you!
Checking Out
Check out is promptly at 10:00 am. In rare cases we can allow a late check out. This can only happen in the unusual event that we don't have a turnover that day. Please ask ahead of time during your reservation. There will be one additional day charged to your security deposit should you be later than 10:00 am. Late checkouts can be arranged by calling our office at (340-776-4703).
For most of our villas, you may leave the home as directed by the person who checks you in. Usually, you can leave the keys in the silverware drawer and leave the front door unlocked—a housekeeper will come shortly after you leave. Be careful not leave the house keys in your rental jeep! There will be a $50 charge for lost keys.
